LESSONS OVERVIEW
INTRODUCTION (06:48)
Quick introduction to everything you will be learning over the next 8 hours.
PART 1 – CREATING THE TIMELAPSE VIDEOS
- DAY AND NIGHT TIMELAPSE VIDEOS
VIDEO 1 – FINDING NEW SPOTS (15:24)
How do I find new timelapse locations from sitting at home?
I am sharing with you a few of my secrets on how to find any spot you see from a random picture on Google or Instagram in just seconds. I will be looking for 3 timelapse spots in three different cities.
VIDEO 2 – KEEPING AN EYE ON THE WEATHER (SITES AND APPS) (13:25)
Keeping an eye on the weather is very important when wanting to shoot amazing timelapse videos, specially if you don’t want to waste your time.
In this video, I will go over sites and iPhone apps that I use to check the weather, air quality, angles and the probability of having a skyfire sunrise or sunset.
VIDEO 3 – SHOOTING THE TIMELAPSE ON LOCATION (09:44)
Let’s go shoot a day and a night timelapse on location. I will talk about how to get a nice composition for timelapse videos, what settings I use during the day and during the night and finally how to select the best interval.
Shooting a day or night timelapse that you could sell is not that easy. You need the perfect balance between your composition, your settings, your interval and your color correction.
VIDEO 4 – TRANSFER AND STORAGE (13:07)
We are back at the studio now! In this video, I am going to show you how I transfer the thousands of pictures I just shot. I will also give you a few tips and tricks to stay organized when you have thousands and thousands, maybe millions, of images to back up.
I also keep a copy of each timelapse video on 2 hard drives and use an index number system that works very well to find any clip in just a few seconds when you have terabytes of content.
VIDEO 5a/5b – LRTIMELAPSE AND LIGHTROOM EDITING (13:04/15:16)
The post-production part of a timelapse video is one of the most important. I will teach you how to color correct a day and a night timelapse in the most natural way possible. Too much or not enough of anything can ruin your work and lower your chances of selling it.
We will use LRTimelapse and Lightroom to color correct and export the video. I will also show you how I create the video with After Effects and why I like it more than LRTimelapse.
VIDEO 6a – AFTER EFFECTS CLEANING – DUST, BIRDS, STAB & CONTRAST FLICKER (14:11)
In the first part of After Effects cleaning, I will show you how to make your timelapse perfect by stabilizing it, how to remove birds and planes in seconds in 2 different ways and finally how to remove contrast flicker.
Contrast flicker can be horrible and really mess up your timelapse. This is why I am going to show you 2 different ways to remove it completely from any timelapse video!
VIDEO 6b – AFTER EFFECTS CLEANING – MISSING OR BLURRY FRAMES (08:58)
What if you end up with missing or blurry frames on your timelapses? Well, it’s not a big deal with Emeric’s Timelapse! One of my Chicago timelapse videos has half of the frames blurry because of high winds that day. Let me show you how I take care of it and create a timelapse ready to sell in just a few minutes.
FREE VIDEO FILE INCLUDED!
VIDEO 6c – AFTER EFFECTS CLEANING – WHAT WE SHOT (04:20)
Let’s clean our day timelapse we just shot in order to upload it online.
This particular one has some contrast flicker to remove!
- DAY TO NIGHT “HOLY GRAIL” TIMELAPSE VIDEOS
VIDEO 7 – INTRO TO DAY TO NIGHT TIMELAPSE VIDEOS (03:48)
I am talking about why I would rather not use any tools to help me with bulb ramping and instead just use my bare hands!
Flawless day to night timelapse videos are, in my opinion, what makes timelapse photography interesting. Let me tell you a little bit more about this…
VIDEO 8 – SHOOTING DAY TO NIGHT ON LOCATION (09:35)
When I shoot a day to night timelapse, I do the bulb ramping manually. In this video, I share with you all my tips and tricks on how to create the day to night transition in manual mode (M) on your camera.
I talk about my settings at the beginning, at the end and how to change them over time in order to end up with an amazing day to night!
VIDEO 9 – LRTIMELAPSE AND LIGHTROOM EDITING – HOLY GRAIL WIZARD (19:23)
In this video, we are editing a beautiful day to night timelapse that I shot in video 8. I came across some issues during the shoot, but I will show you how I fixed them.
This is the video you need to watch in order to know how to perfectly create smooth, flawless and flicker free day to night timelapse videos.
FREE RAW SEQUENCE INCLUDED!
VIDEO 10 – AFTER EFFECTS CLEANING (05:46)
Cleaning a day to night timelapse is very different than cleaning a day or a night timelapse, because the light is changing all the time.
You will learn how to fix any day to night timelapse and remove anything that does not look good on it, such as planes, birds and contrast flicker.
PART 2 – EDITING TIMELAPSE VIDEOS FOR YOUTUBE & INSTAGRAM
VIDEO 11 – CREATING TIMELAPSE PROXIES (18:16)
Create timelapse proxies in order to edit 4K, 6K or even 8K files with any computer. I am going to show you how to create and edit a Youtube video with timelapse proxies.
I am using Media Encoder that comes for free with Premiere Pro, but you can also create proxies with any editing program, it will just take you more time.
VIDEO 12 – BASIC EDITING TIPS FOR PREMIERE PRO (23:35)
Create amazing content with your timelapse videos using Premiere Pro or any other editing software. You’ll be able to speed up your clips in 2 different ways, sync your clips to music and create a few transitions.
I will also tell you where to find music that you can use commercially!
VIDEO 13 – CREATING A TILT-SHIFT WITH AFTER EFFECTS (08:40)
Creating a Tilt-Shift usually requires an expensive tilt-shit lens. However, I will show you how you can fake the miniature effect in only a few steps without needing an expensive lens.
FREE VIDEO FILE INCLUDED!
VIDEO 14a / 14b – CREATING A HYPERZOOM (14:09/13:25)
What if you could zoom in from 50 to 200mm without losing quality? This is what a Hyperzoom is.
Made from 3 (or more) clips, the Hyperzoom is an amazing way to zoom in on a subject without losing video quality.
Let’s create a hyperzoom of the Griffith Observatory!
FREE VIDEO FILES INCLUDED!
VIDEO 15 – CREATING A TIMESLICE WITH NO SLICES (09:37)
Let’s create a Timeslice Timelapse, but with no slices in just a few easy steps on Premiere Pro (you can use any other editing program, it will work the same).
Timeslice is a nice effect that plays with lights and colors. Perfect way to wow anyone with your sunrise or sunset timelapse video.
FREE VIDEO FILE INCLUDED!
VIDEO 16 – UPLOADING ON INSTAGRAM IN HD (09:01)
Vertical, square or widescreen? I tell you everything about how I upload HD clips on Instagram.
I will talk about bitrate, format, codec and how to upload on Instagram in only a few minutes.
PART 3 – SELLING CONTENT ONLINE
- PRIVATE SALES
VIDEO 17 – PRIVATE SALES (10:43)
Selling your content on your own without a marketplace is possible! I will go over the 5 key points on how to do this.
Making your content visible is the first key point in order to get clients and to selling it on your own. Marketplaces do exactly this, however you don’t have their support or marketing tools. So what do you do then? I will answer all of these questions and more!

- THE MARKETPLACES
VIDEO 18 – BEFORE WE START (06:04)
Before we start, I need to explain to you what a marketplace is and how it works. How you can make money from it, what license you will be selling and what buyers are allowed to do with your content.
Do you know what Editorial and Non-Editorial content is? Do you know how to spot the difference and where you can use both types of content? Watch this video to find out.
VIDEO 19 – EDITORIAL TO NON-EDITORIAL (14:47)
Some marketplaces don’t accept Editorial clips and most of the time, you can easily change an Editorial clip to a Non-Editorial one with After Effects. In this video, I will show you how to.
I will remove logos using building textures and show you how to track a mask to blur someone’s face.
For each marketplace below, I will upload 4 timelapse videos that I want to sell. You will follow along with me as I show you how to get to the “Pending Review” status. Each website offers specific tools that help their clients find your content.
